JASANZ Accreditation

The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JASANZ) is the government-appointed body for Australia and New Zealand responsible for providing accreditation of conformity assessment bodies in the fields of certification and inspection.

Before a certifier can apply to a regulator to be a Recognised External Certification Scheme (RECS) they must have accreditation from JASANZ. The JASANZ website contains detailed information on requirements, as well as the application process. These details can be found here: http://www.jasanz.org

Once JASANZ accreditation has been granted, the next step is to apply to a regulator to be a RECS under the legislation. Currently, only Queensland ESO is accepting applications. RECS declared by a participating jurisdiction is recognised by all participating jurisdictions.

JASANZ and participating jurisdictions of the EESS have an agreement to work together on accreditation issues.
